I am a closet-atheist around my family and friends because of the very reasons many other atheists have found: there is a tendency to shun atheists. I'd like to keep the friends I have at least a little while until the environment for us gets better--its very much like how homosexuals have been treated before things got "better." (But not by much.) I might get away with it for a while if I used the "Bright" label, but then that would require a lot of explanation.

I appreciate the irony of maintaining a Facebook profile while seeking to remain anonymous. So there.
